Who we are

The European Forum Against Blindness (EFAB) is an independent, multi-stakeholder advocacy platform.

The group acts as a discussion forum to bring together and activate key stakeholders and is composed of:

AMD Alliance International

amdaiAMD is a global consortium of seventy vision, health, senior and research organizations from twenty six nations dedicated to awareness promotion, treatment and research for Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD), Diabetic Macular Edema (DME), Myopic Choroidal Neovascularization (MCNV) and Retinal Vein Occlusion (RVO).

AMD Alliance International strives to bring knowledge, help and hope to individuals and families around the world affected by macular diseases. This mission is accomplished through:

  • Generating awareness and understanding of macular diseases.
    Promoting the importance of education, early detection, knowledge of treatment and rehabilitation options.
  • Preserving vision and improving the quality of life of individuals affected by such diseases.
    AMDAI’s ambition is consequently, to engage additional patient organizations and other target organizations, e.g. policy makers to broaden advocacy for early detection and treatment for persons and their care givers living with macular diseases.

European Men’s Health Forum

new-emhf-logo-280-2The European Men’s Health Forum (EMHF) is the leading advocate of men’s health in England and Wales, with the support and collaboration of partners who share its aim of tackling the poor state of male health across all the countries of Europe. The EMHF presents a new and major forum for a wide range of organisations and individuals to work together to raise the profile of men’s health at an Europe-wide level and within individual countries.

The International Diabetes Federation European Region (IDF Europe)

idfIDF Europe is the European chapter of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF). It is umbrella organisation of 66 diabetes associations in 47 countries across Europe, and represents both people with diabetes and healthcare professionals.

Through its work, IDF aims to influence policy, increase public awareness and encourage health improvement, and promote the exchange of best practice to prevent diabetes and improve the lives of people with diabetes in Europe.

The Federation provides essential expertise and up-to-date evidence on diabetes, support awareness campaigns through a network of partners and stakeholders, and advocate European and international organizations for proper public policies for diabetes.

The European Council of Optometry and Optics (ECOO)

ecooThe European Council of Optometry and Optics (ECOO) is the European organisation which represents the interests of optometrists and opticians from 27 countries. It aims to promote eye health to the public across borders and to harmonise clinical and educational standards of optometric and optical practice throughout Europe.
